Etihad announces loyalty scheme revamp
Etihad Airways has made significant changes to its Etihad Guest loyalty scheme, the majority of which will come into effect during October. The revamp includes changes to the number of miles needed for award ticket redemptions on certain routes, many of which be significantly reduced. Other significant changes to the programme include the introduction of fees for dates changes on reward flights, over and above permitted free changes depending on tier status, refunds may be available subject to a fee (calculated in miles) as well as reducing the validity of miles. In addition, Etihad Guest members will be allowed up to 5kg of excess luggage over their ticketed allowance, without charge. Silver members will continue to benefit from a 10kg excess luggage allowance, with 15kg for Gold members, and 20kg for Gold Elite members.
ANA confirms Dreamliner Frankfurt launch date
ANA will launch Dreamliner services between Tokyo Haneda and Frankfurt on 21 January 2012, using a version of the aircraft featuring the carrier’s Staggered fully-flat business class seating. The Japanese airline will initially offer a three-times weekly B787 service (Monday, Thursday and Saturday) between the two cities, increasing to daily from 1 February. The Dreamliner aircraft being used for long-haul services will feature 46 fully-flat business class “Staggered” seat and 112 economy seats, as opposed to ANA’s regional / domestic configuration which offers 12 lie-flat business class seats and 252 in economy.
Accor opens second MGallery property in Bangkok
Hotel Muse Bangkok, the newest member of Accor’s MGallery collection of unique hotels, has opened its doors showcasing a mixture of French and Thai cultures. The 174-room upscale boutique hotel, located on Langsuan Road near Lumpini Park, draws inspiration from the fin de siècle era in Europe and King Rama V’s era in Thailand during the late 19th century, which is reflected in its design and structure from the five cupolas roof to the interiors that feature both European and Asian touches.
Jet Airways launches double miles offer
Business and first class passengers travelling on routes between London and Mumbai or Delhi can currently earn double JP Miles miles. The offer is valid for flights booked and flown between now and November 30, and is applicable for Premier and First Class tickets bought in fare codes F, A, C, J and Z. It means that passengers flying from London to Mumbai will earn twice the 4,469 JP Miles each way, while those travelling between London and Delhi will earn twice the 4,169 miles. Note that cabin bonus and tier bonus miles are calculated using the base JP Miles.
All Air France A380s to feature premium economy by December
Air France is to retrofit its first four super-jumbos with Premium Voyageur seating in order to “enrich and standardise the capacity of the Airbus A380 fleet”. The carrier currently has six A380s (with a further six on order), of which only the last two were delivered with the Premium Voyageur product on board. The four without the premium economy cabin will now be retrofitted by 12 December.
